November/Birthday Book Haul, Part 2: Drive Books, Not Cars & Gifts/Freebies

Welcome to the second part of my November/Birthday Book Haul. So for the second part of my haul all of the books in this post are bought from Drive Books, Not Cars. For those of you who don't know what DBNC is, DBNC is a charity drive organized by wonderful people working alongside with Count Me In Indonesia where what they do is they sell cheap secondhand english books at a VERY CHEAP price (from Rp 10,000 - Rp 25,000) only and best of all, each and every cents of the profit goes to help Sahabat Anak and Taman Bacaan Pelangi.

So, obviously I bought a lot of books from this event because I am weak and I can't resist book sales. But I felt justified after buying the books that I'm going to show you because they are all great books and by buying books I'm helping all the children out there that are in need. Here are the books!!
PS: I volunteered to help at this event too!

These are the first four books I got from DBNC. Aren't they all beautiful? Crazy Rich Asians is my particular favorite because it is shiny. Also I got one of my most wanted book, which is Clockwork Angel!!! Now I can finally start reading TID! I got Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother because I saw Regan @ +PeruseProject hauled this book in of her video while I bought I've Got Your Number because I need to read more of Sophie Kinsella's books.

I got Fallen because there's going to be a movie about it and I want to read the book first before the movie comes out. I got Daughter of Smoke & Bone and A Great and Terrible Beauty because there are a lot of hype surrounding those books so I was tempted to buy those books and what the heck they were cheap anyway lol!! I got The Magician because I got the first book, The Alchemyst.

Moving on to some mass market paperback and other paperback things. When I saw Wicked and The Help was there I squealed and immediately grabbed both books because I MUST HAVE IT. I got The Kite Runner because people say Khaled Khosseini's writing are so wonderful. And I got The God of Small Things because it's a Man Booker Prize Winner in 1997 and I want to start reading books that won awards.

The Lies of Locke Lamora I got because it was also hauled by Regan @ +PeruseProject in one of her YouTube videos. I got High Fidelity because I want to start reading books by Nick Hornby. The next three books are now considered my most prized possession because they're HARDCOVERS!!!! those books are The Interestings (which has a beautiful cover) and two Harry Potter books (since I haven't read any HP books yet).

The last four books from DBNC were bought by my friend for me as birthday gifts (ISN'T THAT AMAZING?!) I finally got some books I wanted like To Kill a Mockingbird, Cinder, and Gregor the Overlander. Cinder was still plastic-wrapped btw it is in perfect condition. I got The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas as a gift for my friend because we have the same birthday month.

Last Tuesday I went to a sort of seminar/workshop/discussion thingy at @america in Pacific Place and my lecturer gave a few freebies he got from the US Embassy who then told my friend to distribute it to the whole class. I got two books for free, the title and the cover might not seem all that interesting to me (or most people he he he) so maybe if I won't read it I'll give it to my father.

I got this book as a gift from a friend of mine, it is the last book of a series that I have only read two books from. By the the cover of the book you can see it is A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket! Sadly I can only read this book after I've read all of the previous books in the series and there are like 13 books in this series.

So that's the end of my birthday book haul edition number two. Hope y'all enjoyed it! Cause I sure did and I got loads of good books:)

  1. Awesome book haul!
By the way, if you have read High Fidelity, later, then you have to watch the movie adaptation too (its John Cusack!)
