Synopsis:
It's not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It's definitely the SIZE of the boat too.
And I've got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big c&$k.
You might think I'm an as%*$le. I sound like one, don’t I? I'm hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.
Guess what? You haven't heard my story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.
The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.
And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.

But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.

What the hell have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?

BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely…
Review:
Spencer Holiday likes to think that he's an adonis, a godsend to all the ladies in the world because he's good looking, rich, knows how to please the ladies in the bedroom and he's got a big package down under. Charlotte is an independent woman, she can take care of herself and is probably the only girl in the world who is immune to Spencer's charm. Spencer and Charlotte are best friends and business partners. Both of them own a bar called The Lucky Spot, which is quite successful since it has a few branches around town.

Spencer came from a wealthy family. His father owns a successful jewelry store and is thinking of selling the business to another person and retiring. His father found a potential buyer, a man who's quite conservative and holds family values dearly. This is a problem for his father because Spencer's image is not so squeaky clean, he's been known to get around with a lot of ladies. Spencer thought of something to help smoothen the sale. He told his father and the potential buyer that he's engaged to his best friend, Charlotte.

Because of what he told, Spencer asked Charlotte to play along as his fiancé. At first, Charlotte didn't want to because she's a really bad liar but in the end she agreed to it. But this fake engagement soon became much more as Charlotte proposed a kind of bargain to Spencer, since she hasn't gotten laid in a while she wanted Spencer to please her as long as they're engaged in exchange to her playing pretend as his fiancé. Both agreed to this term and set a few ground rules that must not be violated, but in the end one by one those ground rules are broken and Spencer wasn't so sure he wants to pretend anymore.
“I have an encyclopedic understanding of what a woman wants…and giving it to her. I achieved full fluency in female body language, the clues, and the gestures.”
I recently read a review of this book from kak Nina's blog and I was intrigued to read it. I'll admit one of the reasons I wanted to read this book was because of its sexy and controversial cover with a little of typographical play on the title. Notice how the "r" kind of look like a "c" in the word "rock". After reading this book, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was funny, witty and sweet. All the good things you might want in a romance novel.
“My heart trips over itself in a race to get closer to her. Something is happening. Something strange and completely foreign. My heart is speaking a language I don’t understand as it tries to fling itself at Charlotte. Great. Now, that’s two organs I have to do battle with every day.”
This book is told from a first person pov, Spencer's to be exact. So in this book we sort of became him and read what goes through his head, which is mostly about women, sex and how awesome he thinks he is. If you've read Tangled this book sort of has the same concept of the male main character, but I promise you this book is way better than that book. Spencer is so confident to the point that its funny to read about it and hey he sure got the tools to prove his words.

Characterization is already good for me personally. Reading about Spencer is really great I kind of secretly want him to be my big brother or something to give me pointers and advice since I got like zero game. Perhaps in my adult life he will be quite useful as my guru. Basically every character in this book is easy to like from Charlotte, Harper, Nick and even Spencer's father you'll like because he is such a cool dad. One thing to praise about in this book is the chemistry between Spencer and Charlotte and it is on point. I know that they're best friends but we didn't get much of a story on how they became best friends and fortunately even without a complete backstory readers can get that they have mad chemistry.
“Something is happening. Something strange and completely foreign. My heart is speaking a language I don’t understand as it tries to fling itself at Charlotte.”
“You don't want a tiny diamond on your finger when you can have three carats. You don't want a one-dollar bill when you can have a Benjamin. And you don't want to ride a miniature pony when you can saddle up on a rock-star cock at the rodeo of your pleasure.”
In terms of adult scenes, it's still borders on general depiction of sex scenes you may find. Not too hot for me, though I was expecting the sex scenes to be scalding hot especially with a cover like that. But hey, I'm not complaining. The story totally makes up for it.

All and all it was an enjoyable experience for me, it made laugh, it made me say "awww so sweet" in a few scenes toward the end of the book. I think I should read more of Lauren Blakely's books. A spin-off of this novel is also going to come out soon. It's about the story of Spencer's guy best friend, Nick. Can't wait for that!
